Buying Local

The Chicken Squad: Investigating Where Local Chicken is Sold

The Chicken SquadTM is a fictional agency inspired by the real team of provincial inspectors who enforce national standards for chicken farming.

Developed by BC chicken farmers who wanted to dispel myths about chicken farming in BC, the Chicken SquadTM introduces you to real BC chicken farmers who are so passionate about sharing the truths about chicken farming in BC that they are willing to act for it! First appearing in a 2014 movie trailer that aired in theatres across BC, the Chicken SquadTM progressed into the Chicken SquadTM Intelligence (CSI) Unit: an organization devoted to investigating local chicken sources and keeping Canadians informed.

Knowing Where Chicken
Comes From

It is now easier than ever to know exactly where chicken is coming from. Look for the Raised by a Canadian Farmer logo to be sure the chicken you are buying is Canadian.

Hear about it straight from the CSI Unit in their latest adventure:

The Importance of Buying Local

Buying and cooking locally is a good choice for your family and your community. When you buy local chicken, you support Canadian farmers and everyone else involved in getting that chicken to your plate. All Canadian chicken is free-run, grain-fed, and free of added hormones and steroids. In fact, if you watched the original Chicken SquadTM movie trailer you will know that hormones and steroids have been banned from Canadian poultry production since the 1960s!

The Chicken SquadTM Intelligence Unit answers questions about chicken farming in BC. To stay up to date on how to know where your chicken is coming from, follow the BC Chicken SquadTM on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube.
